Kiphra ("we," "our," or "us") built SmaDict as a free application. This page is used to inform users regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

We do not collect any personal information. SmaDict is designed to work entirely on your device. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
• We do not collect location data.
• We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
• We do not require account creation or login.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

SmaDict stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Saved Words: Words you look up and save are stored in a local database (Room) on your device.
• User Preferences: Settings such as notification preferences, notification time, dark mode toggle, and first-launch status are stored locally using Android DataStore.

This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data will be deleted.

3. Internet Access & Third-Party APIs

SmaDict requires internet access solely to fetch word definitions. The app sends the word you search for to the Free Dictionary API (https://dictionaryapi.dev/).

• Only the searched word is sent to this API — no personal or device information is transmitted.
• We have no control over the privacy practices of the Free Dictionary API. We encourage you to review their privacy policy.

4. Permissions

SmaDict requests the following Android permissions:

• Internet: Required to look up word definitions from the dictionary API.
• Notifications: Used to deliver the daily "Word of the Day" notification. You can disable this in the app settings or your device settings.
• Exact Alarm / Boot Completed: Used to schedule and persist your daily word notification at your preferred time, even after device restarts.
• Battery Optimization Exemption: Optionally requested to ensure daily notifications are delivered reliably.

5. Children's Privacy

SmaDict does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app does not collect any personal data from any user, it is safe for use by all age groups.

6. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not collect or transmit any personal information, there are no data security risks on our end. We recommend keeping your device secured with a screen lock to protect your locally stored data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes.
